-
Can you help with no power in just part of the house?Yes – partial outages are often a sign of a fault in the circuit, fuse board, or wiring. We’ll investigate and get you back up and running safely.
-
What qualifies as an electrical emergency? An electrical emergency includes anything that poses an immediate risk to your safety or property, such as: Power outages (not due to a wider area issue) Burning smells from sockets or fuse boxes Sparking or smoking outlets Tripped breakers that won’t reset Flooding near electrical systems If in doubt – call us! It’s better to be safe.
-
Can you fix the issue on the spot?In most cases – yes. Our vans are fully stocked with common parts and tools, so we can usually fix the problem right away. If a more complex repair is needed, we’ll make everything safe and arrange the follow-up work.
-
Is there a call-out fee for emergencies?Yes, there is a call-out charge for emergency visits – but we always explain costs clearly before attending, with no hidden surprises. We believe in honest, upfront pricing.
-
Do I need an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)?An EICR is essential if you're a landlord, buying or selling a property, or haven't had your electrics inspected in over 5-10 years. It ensures your electrical system is safe and up to standard.
-
How much do your services cost?Pricing depends on the type and complexity of the work. I offer free quotes after assessing your requirements. Contact me for more details.
-

-
Can I attempt DIY electrical work? For safety reasons, I strongly advise against DIY electrical work unless it's something minor like changing a light bulb. Electrical work must comply with UK Building Regulations, which often requires a qualified electrician.
-
What are the main types of lightbulbs available in the UKThe most common types are LED, halogen, CFL (compact fluorescent lamps), and incandescent bulbs. LED bulbs are the most energy-efficient and long-lasting option.
-
Are halogen bulbs being phased out in the UK?Yes, halogen bulbs were banned in the UK in 2021 due to their inefficiency and high energy use. They can still be used, but replacements are no longer widely available.
-
What is the difference between bayonet and screw fittings?Bayonet fittings (B22) have a twist-and-lock mechanism, while screw fittings (E27 or E14) are screwed into place. Check your light fixture to determine the correct fitting. E27 Bulbs are the large base screw in type fitting. E14 are the small base screw in type fitting.
